La roya de la hoja (causada por Puccinia recondita f. sp. tritici) es una enfermedad frecuente del trigo (Triticum aestivum L.). Triticum tauschii es una especie silvestre útil como fuente importante de nuevos genes de resistencia a enfermedades, que puede utilizarse en el mejoramiento genético de este cultivo. El programa de cruzas amplias del Centro Internacional de Mejoramiento de Maíz y Trigo (CIMMYT) ha desarrollado varios trigos sintéticos hexaploides (SH) mediante cruzas interespecíficas entre T. turgidum (genomio AABB) y T. tauschii (genomio DD). Estos sintéticos se cruzan fácilmente con variedades hexaploides debido a que ambos presentan el mismo genomio. Este trabajo presenta los resultados de la herencia de la resistencia a roya de la hoja de cuatro SH. Los sintéticos fueron cruzados con los progenitores susceptibles Morocco, Chinese Spring, Opata 85, y Sonora 64. La segregación de la resistencia fue evaluada en las generaciones F2, F3, y F2CR1 de las cruzas con Morocco, y en la generación F3 en las cruzas con los otros progenitores susceptibles. También fueron evaluadas poblaciones F2 de las cruzas SH 1 x SH 3, SH 1 x SH 4, y SH 3 x SH 4. La resistencia en SH 1 y SH 4 fue conferida por un mismo gene simple dominante, en el SH 2 por un gen recesivo, y en el SH 3 por un gene dominante. No obstante que los SH mostraron una baja severidad, las líneas F3 de las cruzas con Morocco, que fueron homocigóticas para los genes de resistencia en las pruebas en plántula, fueron susceptibles en la evaluación de campo. Esto indica que los genes de resistencia en las pruebas de plántula probablemente no fueron útiles para el control de la roya. |
