Durante el ano de 1991 en las localidades de Danli, Honduras y Guapiles, Costa Rica se evaluaron 225 lineas S1 de las poblaciones PRM x Tuxpeno C17 y Los Diamantes 8043. El objetivo de esta evaluacion consistio en determinar el progreso durante tres ciclos de seleccion recurrente en lineas S1 para especificar rendimiento y pudricion de mazorca. Tambien reducir altura de planta, tallo y raiz y otras importantes poblaciones tales como Los Diamantes 8043 y RPM Tuxpeno C17. Se diseno un latice simple de 15 x 15 con 2 repeticiones y densidad de 53.333 pl/ha fueron usados. Los resultados obtenidos de este analisis combinado de rendimiento y pudricion de mazorca en ambas localidades, indicaron que el rendimiento se incremento anualmente en un promedio de 261 y 385 kg./ha para las poblaciones de Los Diamantes 8043 y RPM x Tuxpeno C17, respectivamente y pudricion de mazorca se redujo anualmente en un promedio de 4.3 por ciento para ambas poblaciones |
