Summary, etc. |
Plant breeders need to develop methods having higher genetic gains than those available. The objective of this study is to propose recurrent selfed-plant mass (SPM) selection, derive its expected genetic gain (delta GS), and to compare delta GS with that of mass selection (delta GM). In SPM selection, S1 plants are evaluated and recombined, and a cycle is completed in a year if an off-season nursery is available. The (delta GS) per cycle was 18 to 34% higher than delta GM for degree of dominance ranging from none to complete dominance and the frequency of favourable alleles from low to intermediate (0.14.5). The SPM selection has another |
