Studies were conducted to determine the response of corn to high temperature and drought stress treatments and possibly to come up with a fast and efficient screening technique for drought resistance. Generally, drought stress at seedling stage caused significant reduction in plant height, dry matter and leaf water potential while significant increase was obtained in stomatal resistance and root-shoot ratio. In addition to visual stress ratings, varietal differDEes were observed on these parameters.
