Summary, etc. In order to verify the applicability limits of the CO(,2) fluxes method for the determination of the speed of formation of organic matter, measurements of carbon dioxide gradients have been carried out in a kernel maize crop (var. ASGROW RX 42) grown according to the usual agronomical techniques. The results we obtained can be considered satisfactory, if considering that in comparison with the calculated 39 g mq('-1) d('-1) of d<y organic matter, applying the CO(,2) fluxes method, a daily formation velocity of organic matter measured by means of weighing equal to 36 g mq('-1) d('-1) has been found.
