The features of medic species are described together with the improved (native meadow) medic-grass system in arid Mediterranean area of central Chile. The improvements in the system are based on surface plowing and controlled grazing. The new system has resulted in improvements over the traditional system of more than 500% in wheat yields, more than 350% in meadow yields, and 500% in beef production.
