Chapter 5. Maize breeding in the United States : views from within Monsanto - Westport, CT (USA) : Wiley, 2015.

Maize (Zea mays L.) breeding in the United States has created as much as 1 billion US$ of additional value per year. Most of this value has been the result of genetic gain for grain yield. This chapter is a synthesis of many of the aspects involved in running a continental‐scale maize breeding operation, as seen by several participants within one of the largest actors in this field, Monsanto Company.
