Fungicide control of fusarium scab and impact on toxin contamination

Fungicide control of fusarium scab and impact on toxin contamination - Mexico, DF (Mexico) CIMMYT : 1997 - Printed

The control of fusarium head blight (FHB) is an unsolved problem worldwide. Tests have shown that large differences exist between the efficacies of fungicides used for FHB control. Fungicides control not only symptom development, but also toxin contamination of grain produced. Highly susceptible genotypes cannot be fully protected under severe epidemic conditions. To achieve effective control, the most susceptible cultivars should be withdrawn from commercial production, and fungicides applied as a preventive measure. Current results show that tebuconazole achieves the most effective control.
