1 map; 7 tables; 5 ref. Summary (En)
The semi-arid areas of the Arab countries, are characterised by low rainfall which is also variable and intense, in addition to high atmospheric demand. The period of water supply coincides with period of low water demand in the winter rainfall regions. This makes dry-land farming possible. In the summer rainfall regions, the period of water supply is characterised by high atmospheric demand: more water supply is required in these regions for dry land farming agriculture. The agricultural production in these regions is rather low and variable. Efficient utilization of the available climatic resources is perhaps one of the key factors for promoting
