Identification of the variants of barley yellow dwarf virus in China - 1990 - Printed

Since 1983 four isolates of barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) in China have been identified by a series of experiments involving comparative transmmission by four aphid species and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) tests using antisera for MAV, PAV, RPV, and RMV, from the USA and the UK. These isolates are: GPV, transmitted nonspecifically by Schizaphis graminum (Rondani) and Rhopalosiphum padi (L.), a new isolate of BYDV that does not react to the antisera for MAV, PAV, RPV, or RMV; GAV, transmitted nonspecifically by S. graminum and Sitobion avenae (Fabricius), related to the MAV and PAV variantes; PAGV, transmitted
