Occurrence of barley yellow dwarf virus in three major cereal-growing regions of Spain - 1990 - Printed

Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)-based surveys during the three years 1985-1987, in three major cereal-growing areas of Spain, confirmed the presence of barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV). Samples of small grain cereals and grasses with and without barley yellow dwarf-like symptoms were sent to Purdue University where they were screened by ELISA. The results indicated the presence of PAV-, MAV-, and RPV-like isolates of BYDV. PAV-like isolates were the most common type, and were present in all the sampled areas.
