Distribution and characteristics of the fungus Tilletia controversa in the stands of winter wheat in the Western Slovakia Rozsirenie a charakteristika mazlavky trpaslicej (Tilletia controversa) v porastoch psenice ozimnej na zapadnom Slovensku - 1994 - Printed
2 tables; 9 ref. Summaries (En, Sk)
The occurrence of the fungus T. controversa in the stands of winter wheat was detected in 99 localities in six districts. The contribution contains a list of localities, years and intensity of its occurrence; the regions of Western Slovakia where the fungus T. controversa does not occur are demonstrated. Morphological and ecophysiological characteristics of the fungus population spread in Western Slovakia are presented in this paper. The diameter of chlamydospores varied of hyaline sheath was from 1.5 to 1.8 mm. Minimum, optimum and maximum temperatures required for chlamydospore germination are 1 - 2 degrees C, 5 - 8 degrees C and 9 - 12 degrees C, respectively. Chlamydospores germinated in the light and their dormancy period was 28 - 30 days. The results also showed that the climatic conditions limited the occurrence of dwarf bunt in some regions. The temperature higher than 10 (12) degrees C at the time after sowing and at earlier stages of wheat growth is a limiting factor
