Some considerations on the use of induced mutations for improving disease resistance of crop plants - 1983 - Printed

79 ref

First attempts to induce mutations for improving disease resistance of crop varieties were successful around 1940. Since then more experience has been gained, problems have been encountered, and concepts have changed. The paper reviews the situation in 1981 and critically discusses the potential of mutation induction projects to contribute to the development of crop varieties with better and durable resistance to pathogens and pests.
