Comparison of irrigation schedules based on evapo-transpiration, pan evaporation and growth stages in wheat [of Bangladesh] - 1983 - Printed

12 ref. Summary (En)

Field studies were conducted at the Regional Agricultural Research Station, Ishurdi, Bangladesh to compare the efficiency of irrigation schedules to wheat based on ET demands, fixed irrigation water to cumulative pan evaporation (IW/PE) ratio and definite growth stages. Treatments receiving smaller amount of irrigation (5-6 cm) at early stages of growth either on the basis of ET demands or IW/PE ratio produced significantly higher wheat yield. Profile water use and water use efficiency were also higher in these treatments. Whereas, irrigation schedule based on definite growth stages produced higher straw yield, but the grain yield was low.
