Evolution of organic matter and nitrogen in soil treated with barley straw and different levels of nitrogen fertilizer - 1983 - Printed

3 tables; 2 graphs; 10 ref.; Summaries (De, En, Es, Fr, It)

A field experiment was made during a period of 6 years in the central area of Spain. Nitrogen was applied to the soil at 3 different levels, and barley straw was added to 50 per cent of the experimental plots. An increase in organic matter and nitrogen contents was verified in the soil, and it was observed that under the experimental conditions plant residues were transformed into organic materials, but mineralization of the latter did not occur. An immobilization of the N of the soil as well as the N added as fertilizer was observed
