Ecophysiological factors determining wheat grain production
Mangas Martin, V.J.
Ecophysiological factors determining wheat grain production - 1980 - Printed
4 tables; 20 ref. Summaries (De, En, Es, Fr, It)
The effect of soil and weather on winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) grain yield in semi-arid regions has been studied. It is an attempt to investigate the determinant parameters of yield by a principal factor analysis. Ear and grain formation possibly depressed by the maximum temperature of the air: above 22 deg. and 30 deg. C, respectively, in the eight plots. Internal mechanisms of plants tending to the compensation between yield components are found, as well as limitation of photosynthetic capacity by drought during the period around anthesis. The results show the importance of environmental conditions shortly before anthesis and during grain
