Reeves, D.W.
Starter fertilizer combinations and placement for conventional and no-tillage corn - 1986 - Printed
Tables, literature cited p. 85
A three year study compared the effects of starter fertilizers and placementmethods on growth and yield of maize grown in conventional and conservation tillage systems. Maize was planted with or without in-row subsoiling. Fertilizerwas applied as N, N-P or N-P-K at rates of N, P and K of 22, 9.7 and 6.6 lb/ac, respectively. This was placed either deep in the subsoil channel or shallow withor without subsoiling. Starter fertilizers improved early season plant growth inboth tillage system on both a silt loam, Decatur, and a sandy loam, Dothan. Plant height increases six weeks after planting averaged 50 and 27% for conventional and no tillage
