Cytogenetic investigations in hexaploid triticale. 1. Meiosis, aneuploidy and fertility

Cytogenetic investigations in hexaploid triticale. 1. Meiosis, aneuploidy and fertility - 1984 - Printed
Tables, graphs, references p. 21-22
Of three secondary hexaploid cultivars, NIAB-T158-4 was the least irregular and NIAB-T103 the most irregular at meiosis. All three showed a high proportion of aneuploids (78-86%), but all deficient gametes were functional. Significant differences among the three were observed for number of grains per ear, but not for 1000-grain weight, number of grains per spikelet or spikelets per ear, nor in the numbers of univalents and micronuclei per PMC. It is suggested that the meiotic irregularities were due to failure of homologous pairing.
