Tables
The study was carried out in one union of each of two locations in Bangladesh, Jessore and Ishurdi, selection being on the basis of concentration of summer maize cultivation. Summer maize is shown to be a profitable crop on the basis of return to investment. However, unless the domestic demand for maizefor consumption and industrial use is increased, any further increase in production will create severe problems of marketing. The extension service for the maize crop is also shown to be inadequate.
